Ben & Gina's Local Recommendations

Things to do around The Westin

Shopping at Yorktown Center

The Westin is on the outer perimeter of this mall so it's easy to get to. There are plenty of options to replace all those clothes the airline just lost. You can also go bowling.

Morton Arboretum

G&B have been to the Arboretum a few times. It's a beautiful display of nature with towering trees and way more than you can see in a single trip. September is the perfect time of year for this, so be sure to bring your camera!

Willowbrook Wildlife Center

Let us know what you think if you go, since we haven't had the time yet. There's a nature trail and some wildlife exhibits, and you can look in on some of the rehab rooms.

See a Movie

AMC Yorktown 18 is a short walk away and can help kill a few hours if you want to pretend you're not on a fun trip!

Brookfield Zoo

Fun for the whole family, go see some lions, tigers, and bears. Oh my, there's so much to see here!

Things to do in Downtown Chicago

We have faith in all of you that you can figure out what to do in Chicago. But if you're looking for our stamp of approval, here are some things that we love to do in the city.

Riverboat Tours

We recommend the Viator Tour. The guide we had was funny and informative. Definitely book tickets in advance, no matter which tour company you go with, since they fill up fast!

Millenium Park Lurie Garden

If you're touristing through Millenium Park, you'll have to walk through this garden. Gina & Ben wandered through on our first trip downtown together!

Chicago Riverwalk

The riverwalk just opened a new extension and it's a beautiful way to stroll through the city! This is a great alternative to a boat tour for those who only have land-legs.

Wrigley Field

Ben moved to Chicago and the Blackhawks won another Cup. Ben & Gina date, and the Cubs broke a 100+ year losing streak. Coincidence? We'll let you decide. Visit the Cubs' iconic sign, book a tour (in advance!), go to a game?

Central Camera

If we need film or if a camera needs some fixin' this is where we go. It's fun to see all the cameras on display and the tons of film and accessories packed into this tiny store.

Things we love near home (Naperville)

Naperville Riverwalk

We're out here every chance we get! This is a great place to just be outside, bring your camera, and maybe even propose to your girlfriend. Oh...yeah, that bridge in the middle is where it happened!

Top Golf

A modern take on the driving range - it's like a video game in real life. No golf experience necessary (have you met us?). They're open day and night, and they'll serve you food and drinks while you play!

Two Bostons Pet Store

Here's a cute little pet store right in the heart of downtown Naperville with fun toys and all sorts of treats! Schmutz would be remiss if you didn't head upstairs!

Anderson's Bookshop

This local bookstore holds tons of book signings and release parties and they're a big party of Naperville's community. Gina & Ben met Randall Munroe (XKCD, The Thing Explainer, What If) through a signing here!
